FEMS Master Thesis Award 2026 Final

One of the highlights of FEMS Junior EUROMAT 2026 was the FEMS Master Thesis Award 2026 Final, which recognizes outstanding Master’s theses in materials science and engineering while promoting young talents representing the FEMS Member Societies. 

Eight exceptional young researchers, nominated by their respective national organizations affiliated with the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS), qualified for the final. Each finalist presented their research during a 10-minute presentation, followed by a question-and-answer session with the international jury consisting of Prof. Paula Vilarinho (FEMS President), Prof. Rodrigo Moreno (FEMS Vice-President), and Prof. Alexis Kermanidis (Conference Chair). 

After an exceptionally competitive final, the awards were presented to: 

• 🥇 1st Place – Andrada-Ioanna Damian-Buda (German Society for Materials Science – DGM, Germany) 

• 🥈 2nd Place – Sophia Soupiou (Hellenic Metallurgical Society, Greece) 

• 🥉 3rd Place – Cristian Cascioli (Italian Association of Metallurgy – AIM, Italy) 

The Polish Materials Science Society (Polskie Towarzystwo Materiałoznawcze, PTM) is proud to announce that M.Eng. Monika Rejek represented Poland and was selected among the eight finalists of the competition. Reaching the final is a significant distinction and reflects the high quality of research conducted by young Polish materials scientists. 

All finalists received commemorative diplomas in recognition of the outstanding quality of their research and their valuable contributions to the advancement of materials science in Europe. 

Representing Poland, M.Eng. Monika Rejek would like to express her sincere gratitude to the Polish Materials Science Society (PTM) for its trust, nomination to the FEMS Master Thesis Award 2026, and the opportunity to represent the Polish materials science community on the international stage during FEMS Junior EUROMAT 2026.
