PTM Competition 2022

The Main Board of the Polish Materials Science Society awarded two equal prizes for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of Materials Science for 2020. The winners of the competition are:

- BEng, PhD Izabella Kwiecień from IMIM PAN in Krakow. Dissertation title: "Diffusion phenomena at the interface zone of Al1050/Ni201 explosively welded clads". Supervisor: BEng, PhD, DSc Assoc. Prof. Joanna Wojewoda-Budka. Co-supervisor: BEng, PhD Piotr Bobrowski;

-  BEng, PhD Maria Wątroba from AGH UST in Krakow. Dissertation title: "New bioresorbable zinc alloys for biomedical applications". Supervisor: BEng, PhD, DSc, ProfTit Piotr Bała.

Four distinctions were also awarded:

- BEng, PhD Kamil Gancarczyk from Rzeszów University of Technology. Dissertation title: "Perfection of the crystalline structure of CMSX-4 nickel superalloy single crystals and its influence on mechanical properties at high temperature". Supervisor: BEng, PhD, DSc, ProfTit Jan Sieniawski;

- BEng, PhD Krystian Zyguła from AGH UST in Krakow. Dissertation title: "Heat-mechanical plastic processing of titanium alloys from the Beta group, obtained from elementary powders". Supervisor: BEng, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof. Marek Wojtaszek;

- BEng, PhD Milena Leszczyńska from Warsaw University of Technology. Dissertation title: "Rigid polyurethane foams obtained with the use of renewable raw materials". Supervisor: BEng, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof. Joanna Ryszkowska;

- BEng, PhD Marcin Wekwejt. Dissertation title: "Modification of bone cement to obtain long-term antibacterial protection". Supervisor: BEng, PhD, DSc, ProfTit Andrzej Zieliński. Co-supervisor: PhD Anna Michno.
